Ricardo Colas - From Listener to Leader

 Growing up as the second oldest of seven siblings, Ricardo Colas learned early on about responsibility and caring for others. His childhood dream shifted from becoming a police officer or firefighter to eventually discovering his true calling in youth mentorship. A pivotal moment in his journey occurred during his elementary school years when classmates nicknamed him "Dr. Phil" for his natural ability to listen and offer support.

"There was a time in maybe fourth or fifth grade where I was sitting outside waiting to go into class," Ricardo recalls. "One of my classmates was sitting next to me, sharing their childhood challenges. I would just listen to them, and eventually, I was labeled Dr. Phil, which was kind of funny. That's kind of been something that's come natural to me, just listening to people and holding space for them."

This innate ability to connect with others, combined with his experience helping raise his younger siblings, laid the foundation for his future in youth services. After eight years working in various social service roles, Ricardo identified critical gaps in youth support systems.

His frustration with institutional limitations led him to establish Tunnel Vision Track Coaching & Mentoring LLC, where he could directly address the needs of young people in his community. Today, Ricardo's childhood inclination to help others has evolved into a mission to create lasting change in Colorado Springs. Through his business, he's building the supportive environment he envisioned, where youth can thrive and communities can come together in meaningful ways.
